JOS, PLATEAU STATE, NIGERIA - April 16, 2025 - A wave of renewed terror has gripped Plateau State, prompting strong condemnation from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a press statement released today from their Kalwa House headquarters in Jos, the state chapter of the APC expressed deep concern and called for decisive action following the latest attack on communities in Bassa Local Government Area.
The statement, signed by Acting Publicity Secretary Shittu Bamaiyi, highlighted the disturbing sequence of violent incidents. The APC pointed out that the state is still reeling from the recent killings in Bokkos Local Government Area when yet another "terrorist attack was unleashed on the sleepy villages of Zike and Kimakpa of Bassa local government area."
The party described the recent spate of "gruesome and unprovoked attacks" as both "disturbing" and "intolerable," emphasizing the prevailing mood of "mourning and sorrow" across the state. The APC asserted that it is "unacceptable that some mindless and bloodthirsty individuals could come at will to unleash mayhem on the people of the State."
While acknowledging the ongoing efforts of security agencies to combat the attackers, the APC insisted that the current situation necessitates a more robust response. The party explicitly called for "dicisive action to deal with the situation," urging for a significant increase in security personnel on the ground with the appeal for "more boots on the ground."
Furthermore, recognizing the evolving nature of the threats, the APC advocated for the deployment of advanced technology to effectively confront the perpetrators. The statement specifically called for the deployment of "cutting edge technology to engage the marauders once and for all."
The Plateau State APC extended its condolences to the families who have suffered losses in the recent "horrific tragedies." The party also expressed hope for the swift identification and apprehension of those responsible for the "dastardly act."
