Kaduna, Nigeria – The newly appointed Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Mr. Sakaba Ishaku, has paid a courtesy visit to the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS). This visit was part of his familiarization tour of key government institutions in Kaduna State.
Welcoming the ICPC team, the Executive Chairman of KADIRS, Comrade Jerry Adams, reiterated the agency’s commitment to integrity and ethical financial practices. He highlighted the reforms introduced by KADIRS to improve tax collection efficiency and prevent revenue leakages. These reforms, he noted, have been achieved through intelligence sharing and collaboration with various agencies.
Mr. Sakaba Ishaku, during his address, underlined the importance of cooperation between the ICPC and revenue-generating bodies like KADIRS in fostering transparency, accountability, and good governance. He commended KADIRS for its efforts in boosting revenue for the state and assured the agency of the ICPC’s determination to combat corrupt practices in tax administration.
“This partnership is essential to ensure that revenue generation in Kaduna State remains free from corruption, tax evasion, and fraudulent activities, including vehicle plate number fraud,” Mr. Ishaku stated.
The visit represents a significant step in strengthening the relationship between the ICPC and KADIRS, paving the way for a more transparent and effective revenue generation process in the state.
The meeting was attended by top officials of KADIRS, including the Executive Director of Standard and Compliance, Alh. Ali Garba Gora; Executive Director of Revenue Operations, Dr. Muhammad Lawal; Executive Director of Corporate Service, Alh. Umar Sani; as well as Directors and Heads of Units.
The initiative underscores the collective effort to promote accountability and integrity in public financial management across Kaduna State.
