The Green Economic Zone (GEZ) Kaduna has been awarded by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Zone B Headquarters as the most compliant and fastest-growing zone in the Northern region.

The award was received by GEZ Executive Chairman Khalifa Nasiru Abdullahi, who was ably represented by his Special Assistant for Services, Malam Nuradeen Khamis.

Held recently at the Zone B headquarters, the award was given as part of NCS activities commemorating the 2024 International Customs Day, an annual event.

Receiving the award on behalf of the GEZ Chairman, Malam Nuradeen Khamis said it was gratifying that GEZ was being honored and assured the NCS and all stakeholders of their readiness to provide opportunities, ensure compliance with established laws, and make the zone accessible to business-minded citizens.

He said the zone is the largest among the several zones in the Northern region, and it is gratifying that it is being honored by the NCS just a few years after commencing operations.

Khamis, who was accompanied by the Head of Mining, Ahmad Abubakar Yahaya, further said that the award is a challenge to the zone to redouble its efforts in its operations and strive for excellence to deepen free trade activities across the Northwest zone and the nation in general.

The event celebrated Global Customs Day and its efforts to boost citizens' morale in their businesses by empowering the global supply chain, reinforcing collaboration, harnessing modern technology, and putting traditional and new partners at the center of the transformation process according to best global standards.

The event drew stakeholders from a wide spectrum, while other participants included the Kaduna Inland Dry Port (KIDP) and the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA).

GEZ was not only recognized for its achievements.  The celebration of Global Customs Day aimed to boost citizens' morale in their businesses by empowering the global supply chain, reinforcing collaboration, harnessing modern technology, and putting traditional and new partners at the center of the transformation process according to best global standards.

Highlights of the occasion included the award of a plaque, group photos, and the exchange of pleasantries.
