Political stakeholders in Kaduna State have hailed Hon. Ben Kure’s return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a significant step toward fostering unity and strengthening the party’s base. The former Special Adviser (SA) on Political Matters to the Kaduna State Governor and one-time Interim Chairman of Jaba Local Government (LG) was warmly received at the APC Dadu Ward office in Jaba LG, where he officially defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Hon. Kure, who received his APC membership card last Saturday, attributed his decision to Senator Uba Sani’s efforts to reunite Kaduna State. “After three years away, I am making a U-turn back to the APC to support Governor Uba Sani in his quest to sanitize the politics of Kaduna State,” he said.
Kure explained that he initially left the APC due to perceived injustice after serving twice as Campaign Director General for former Governor Nasir El-Rufai. “I delivered successful campaigns but was sidelined afterward,” he stated. He stressed his role as a pioneer member who helped bring the APC to Kaduna State and expressed his commitment to supporting Governor Sani, whom he succeeded as SA Political when Sani moved to the Senate.
The APC Ward Chairman, Ishaku Barnabas expressed excitement over the defection of Kure to APC, “We lost a leader during his absence, but his return has restored a sense of belonging. We are stronger with him back.”
Councillor Daniel Kyari described him as a role model, “Hon. Kure is my political father. We felt weak without him, but his return has reinvigorated us.”
A PDP Stakeholder Solomon Kyari said “We are here to witness the defection of our political mentor. This event has inspired many of us to consider joining the APC soon.”
Kure urged the people of Southern Kaduna to rally behind Governor Sani’s inclusive governance, noting that the governor is bringing together people from all walks of life to correct political anomalies. The presence of opposition party members, including those from the PDP, Labour Party, and APGA, underscored Kure’s influence as a political mentor in Jaba LG.
