The title of Nwakaibeya Ndigbo (First Among Equals) of the Igbo in Kaduna State was conferred on the renowned journalist and Channels Television correspondent, Mr. Chimezie Enyiocha, as a display of appreciation and recognition by the Igbo community in Kaduna State.
The conferment ceremony was part of the activities to honor deserving individuals during the 2024 Igbo Community Cultural Day in Kaduna. Reacting to the honor for his tireless efforts and dedication to the community, Mr. Chimezie, who was visibly overwhelmed with emotion, expressed his gratitude to his people. "A prophet is not always recognized in his hometown," he said, referencing a common saying, "but today, I am delighted to have been honored by my people. This means that charity begins at home."
The award, presented to Mr. Chimezie in recognition of his selfless service to the community, was a testament to his hard work and commitment to the well-being of his people.
In an interview, Mr. Chimezie acknowledged the trust placed in him and pledged to continue serving his community and humanity at large. "To whom much is given, much is expected," he said. The venue was filled with excitement and joy as the Kaduna State Executive Governor, Malam Uba Sani, graced the ceremony and was awarded Enyi Ndigbo of Kaduna to join the Ndigbo in celebrating their heritage and culture.

He also expressed his appreciation to his well-wishers, urging them to always identify with their people and build sustainable relationships.
