The 4th edition of the Chief Defence Staff U-20 Male Football Championship is set to kick off with participation from over thirty states across Nigeria.
The chairman of the organizing committee, Dr. Ahmed Lawal, announced the details of the event, expressing gratitude to the Chief of Defence Staff for his support in channeling the energy of about 160 young players and others involved in the football value chain.
Dr. Lawal, who also serves as the president of the African Youth Sports Federation (ASOF), highlighted the important role of the Kaduna State government in promoting grassroots football development and commended the state for its partnership and efforts to encourage young talents in the region.

"The Kaduna State government has been a fantastic partner in this endeavor. Their commitment to grassroots football development is commendable, and we are excited to see the positive impact this championship will have on the youth in the state and beyond," Dr. Lawal remarked.
The championship, scheduled to take place from October 20th to 27th, 2024, promises to be a showcase of young football talents from various parts of the country.
The event, held in honor of Nigeria's Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Christopher Gwabi Musa, aims to strengthen the relationship between the military and civilian populace through the promotion of non-kinetic approaches in combating banditry and other criminal activities.
"This championship is not just about football; it's about giving our youth a chance to shine and pursue their dreams. We are grateful to the Chief of Defence Staff for his support, which has been instrumental in making this event possible," Dr. Lawal stated.
