Attacking players Abubakar Sani and Nura Sani of D’ Officer Football Club scored a goal each in the second half to secure a 2-0 victory over FC Bagadaza of Pambegua. The match, which took place in Zuntu, marked the conclusion of the thrilling final of the Governor Uba Sani Unity Cup’s inaugural edition.

The first half ended in a goalless draw, with both teams displaying solid defense. The excitement peaked in the second half when D’ Officer FC capitalized on their chances to claim the prestigious trophy. The final was witnessed by Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, and his teammate, Shehu Abdullahi, who added color and inspiration to young players at event.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Kaduna State’s Accountant General, Bashir Zuntu, expressed his satisfaction with the success of the tournament. He said the event’s role in fostering social cohesion and providing positive outlets for the youth.

“I’m impressed by the turnout. Sports, as we know, fosters social impact through the interaction of players from different backgrounds. This competition was aimed at channeling the energy of our youth into productive ventures,” Zuntu said.

He also disclosed plans by the Kaduna State government to rehabilitate the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in the coming months as part of efforts to further promote sports development in the state.

“We thank the Governor for his commitment to rehabilitating Ahmadu Bello Stadium and for working to bring Kaduna United FC back to the Nigerian Premier League.
His support is commendable,” Zuntu added. He noted that the presence of Super Eagles stars Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi was aimed at inspiring young talents.

The Accountant General called on the youth to take inspiration from Ahmed Musa, who has empowered and supported many young people across Nigeria through football.

In his remarks, the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dahiru Liman, praised the initiative, describing it as a timely move to promote grassroots sports development.

“I want to thank the AG, Bashir Suleiman Zuntu, for honoring our leader with this competition, which is very fitting. I also congratulate all the participating teams, especially the winners of this maiden edition,” the Speaker said, commending the organizers for a smooth and successful event.

At the end of the final match, D’ Officer Football Club of Pambegua was awarded a giant trophy and the sum of five hundred thousand naira (₦500,000). The runners-up, FC Bagadaza, received three hundred thousand naira (₦300,000), while the third-place finisher took home two hundred thousand naira (₦200,000), along with consolation prizes for other participants.
