General Manager KADA Assesses Successes and Challenges of Fertilizer Distribution Project …Expresses Satisfaction with Phase I Success, Targets Improved Performance in Phase II.

The Kaduna Agricultural Development Agency recently convened a review meeting with key officials to assess the success and challenges of the ongoing Kaduna State 500 Trucks Free Fertilizer Distribution initiative. 

The project which aims to support 120,000 smallholder farmers across the Kaduna State

The meeting focused on a comprehensive internal review of the redemption process, which includes the identification, verification, and validation of smallholder farmers. 

Speaking at the meeting, the General Manager of Kaduna Agricultural Development Agency, KADA, Muhammad Rili said the discussion is to also covered successes, challenges, and other pertinent issues encountered across the 69 redemption centers in the state. 

“This review aims to enhance the process and address key challenges observed during Phase I of the exercise.”

General Manager, Rili expressed satisfaction with the success recorded in Phase I, which targeted over 51,000 small holder farmers in over 5000 identified farming communities across the state.

In a remark, the state commissioner of Agriculture, Murtala Dabo highlighted that this unprecedented initiative underscores Governor Sen. Uba Sani’s commitment to empowering smallholder farmers, boosting agricultural productivity, and ensuring food security in Kaduna State.

He directed all officials to ensure the effective implementation of exercise guidelines and warned that any individuals found sabotaging the approved guidelines would face appropriate consequences. 

On his part the chairman of the distribution committee who is the Secretary Kaduna State Government, SSG, Abdulkadir Muazu Mayere urged all helpline officers to increase their efforts in the upcoming Phase II of the distribution exercise and called on the general public to report any elements attempting to disrupt the smooth distribution of two bags of fertilizer per farmer, free of charge.

The SSG said the initiative continues to demonstrate the state government’s dedication to supporting the agricultural sector and improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Kaduna State.
