Plateau State Governor Imposes 24-Hour Curfew on Jos/Bukuru Metropolis

Jos, Plateau State - In a bid to maintain public order and ensure the security of lives, Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Jos/Bukuru Metropolis, effective from 12 midnight on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

The decision was made after a review of the actions of unscrupulous individuals who exploited the nationwide protest to unleash terror on innocent citizens, looting shops and restaurants along Bauchi Road and Zololo Junction.

Governor Mutfwang emphasized that the curfew is in the best interest of all citizens and urged everyone to comply fully to ensure safety and well-being.

He directed security agencies to ensure total enforcement of the curfew and warned those planning to unleash further terror to desist or face the full wrath of the law.

The governor also commended the citizens of Plateau State, particularly the clergy and imams, for their support and cooperation during the planned nationwide protest, praising their commitment to maintaining peace and unity.

The curfew is expected to be strictly enforced, and residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid any movements during the curfew period. 

The governor's office has assured that the curfew is a temporary measure to ensure public safety and will be lifted as soon as the situation returns to normal.
