The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has announced the first edition of the Dr. Mohammed Maina Media Badminton Tournament, scheduled for August 23-24, 2024, at the Exclusive Badminton Club, Kaduna State University, Kaduna.
The two-day tournament will bring together media practitioners and sports enthusiasts to compete in veteran singles and doubles categories, paying tribute to Dr. Mohammed Maina, Vice President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria.
The event promises to be an exciting opportunity for media professionals and sports enthusiasts to engage in a fun and competitive environment, promoting camaraderie and sportsmanship.
All Participating teams are expected to register their representatives for the tournament and interested participants can contact the organizers for more information and registration details.
According to the organizers of the maiden tournament, there will be awards to be presented to notable individuals, including the President of SWAN, Isaiah Benjamin, a Philanthropist, Shettimah Yerima, the Commissioner of Sports Development, Prof Benjamin Gugong, as well as Dr. Mohammed Maina, Vice President Nigeria Badminton Federation, and Shehu Abdullahi, SWAN Chairman, Kaduna State.
This tournament is a great way to honor Dr. Maina's contributions to badminton in Nigeria, and SWAN is excited to host this event in Kaduna.
