Kaduna State Trains Over 90 Budget Officers on 2025-2027 Budgeting Templates

 




Over 90 budget officers from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) across Kaduna State are participating in a three-day refresher training on the 2025-2027 budgeting templates. The training, organized by the Planning and Budget Commission (PBC), aims to equip the officers with the latest knowledge and best practices in budget preparation, in line with the current administration's aspirations.


The Permanent Secretary of the Planning and Budget Commission, Bashir Muhammed, mni, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the significance of the training. He emphasized the need for secrecy in governance and the importance of continuous learning to ensure effective budget management.


On his part, the Director of Budget, Mal. Idris Suleiman, underscored the training's importance, stating, "This training is crucial in our quest to enhance budget excellence in Kaduna State. 

"We are committed to ensuring that our budget officers are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to drive sustainable development in the state." He further emphasized the need to build the capacity of budget officers to fulfill the Commission's mandate effectively."@


The training sessions covered a range of key areas, including budget adjustments, supplementary budgets, budget performance reports, and the use of existing budgeting templates. 

Practical exercises were incorporated to address real-life budgeting challenges, with a focus on internal virements and the effective utilization of supplementary budgets.





In addition, participants expressed delight with the training and resolved to implement every details in the course of the 2025 budgeting exercises. They engaged in a quiz on the medium-term expenditure framework, aimed at enhancing their understanding and encouraging a culture of continuous learning.


The training also provided updates on the 2025 budget preparation guidelines, the effective use of budgeting templates, and the accurate description of capital expenditure projects in accordance with the Nigerian Governors’ Forum standards. 

Other topics included an assessment of previous budget preparation training, challenges faced in the process, and presentations on the Community Development Charter and the Sustain Agenda.


This initiative by the Planning and Budget Commission is a proactive step toward achieving sustainable development in Kaduna State. By enhancing the skills and knowledge of budget officers, the Commission is ensuring that budgets are managed effectively, resources are allocated efficiently, and service delivery is improved for the benefit of the citizens of Kaduna State.
