The Emir of Zazzau, HRH Ahmad Nuhu Bamali, has conferred the traditional title of Turakin Mardannin Zazzau on philanthropist Dr. Haruna Saleh Kargi. The turbaning ceremony took place on Friday, August 2nd, 2024, at the Emir’s palace in Zaria.
Dr. Kargi, a former Kaduna state Commissioner of Inter-Governmental Affairs and Current Director of Finance and Accounting at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, was seen riding a decorated horse through the streets of Zaria, surrounded by a large crowd, after the ceremony.
The Emir tasked Dr. Kargi to use his wealth of experience to bring about rapid socio-economic development to the emirate and to be a good ambassador of the emirate. He also emphasized the importance of unity, tolerance, and patience in discharging his responsibilities.
In an interview, Dr. Kargi stated that those bestowed with traditional titles were carefully chosen and rewarded for their hard work, loyalty, and commitment.
The event was attended by dignitaries from various ministries, local government chairmen, friends, and well-wishers from across Kaduna state.
The conferment of the traditional title on Dr. Kargi is seen as a recognition of his contributions to the emirate and his commitment to its development.
