Protesters Demand El-Rufai's Arrest Over N423 Billion Financial Allegations

Dozens of protesters gathered at the Kaduna State Government House, demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai over alleged financial mismanagement totaling N423 billion.

The protesters, under the Kaduna Citizens Watch for Good Governance, called for a thorough investigation into borrowings and spending during El-Rufai's administration.

They urged Governor Uba Sani to invite the EFCC and other anti-graft agencies to investigate and prosecute El-Rufai, citing diversion of funds, overpayments to contractors, payments to unregistered companies, and un documented withdrawals from the state treasury.

The protesters highlighted specific allegations, including:

- Diversion of N10.5 billion meant for pastoral nomadism and the Milk Industry

- Overpayments to contractors and payments to unregistered companies totaling over N36.3 billion

- Funds disbursed for incomplete work

- Large sums withdrawn without proper documentation

- Expenditure of over N11 billion on a non-existent MRT transportation scheme

They called on Governor Sani to implement the report's recommendations and forward the findings to anti-corruption agencies, enabling the recovery of state resources.

The protest leader, Comrade Victor Duniya, presented their demands to Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Balarabe and other officials, who listened behind closed doors.
