The Commissioner of Police for Kaduna State, CP Ali A. Dabigi, addressed members of the press today, highlighting the significant achievements of the Kaduna State Police Command over the past two months. CP Dabigi expressed his heartfelt appreciation to key individuals and institutions whose support has been instrumental to their success.
"I extend my deepest gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for his persistent support and guidance. His leadership has been pivotal in steering the Command towards greater efficiency and effectiveness," stated CP Dabigi.
He also thanked His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, for his continuous support and commitment to enhancing the security of the state. "His collaboration with the Police has been key to our efforts to maintain peace and order," he added.
CP Dabigi acknowledged the crucial role played by Sister Security Agencies, traditional institutions, and stakeholders in Kaduna State. He emphasized that their dedication and teamwork have been vital in the joint operations and successes of the Police Command.
"The wisdom, guidance, and community engagement of traditional institutions and stakeholders have significantly contributed to our security efforts. I also thank the people of Kaduna State, whose support and cooperation have been the backbone of our success," said the Commissioner.
Notable Achievements
The Commissioner detailed several notable achievements of the Kaduna State Police Command in the last two months:
1. Arrest of Armed Robbery Suspects: Seventy-three (73) suspects were arrested.
2. Arrest of Kidnapping Suspects: Seventy (70) suspects were apprehended.
3. Neutralization of Bandits: Nine (9) bandits were neutralized.
4. Arrest of Phone Snatchers: Nine hundred and eighty-five (985) suspects were detained.
5. Recovery of Firearms: Five (5) AK47 rifles and seven (7) locally made arms were recovered.
6. Seizure of Ammunition: One thousand eight hundred and seventeen (1,817) rounds of live ammunition were confiscated.
7. Recovery of Stolen Vehicles: Eight (8) motor vehicles and one (1) tricycle were recovered.
8. Arrest of Car Theft Suspects: Eight (8) suspects were arrested.
9. Recovery of Motorcycles: Seven (7) motorcycles were recovered.
10. Arrest of Railway Vandal: One (1) suspect was arrested.
11. Recovery of Rustled Cattle: Twenty-nine (29) cattle were recovered.
Detailed Cases
1. Arrest of a Suspected Railway Vandal
On May 3, 2024, the Police arrested Naim Mikaila, a resident of Kajuru in Kaduna State, following credible intelligence. Mikaila was found in possession of one hundred (100) pieces of railway tracks without satisfactory explanation, leading to his arrest.
2. Arrest of Armed Robbery Suspects and Cyber Criminal
On May 9, 2024, a surveillance patrol team intercepted three suspects along Yakowa Expressway. Further investigation led to the arrest of additional criminals, including a cybercriminal specializing in unlocking phones and altering IMEI numbers. Recovered items included motor vehicles, a tricycle, a motorcycle, and twenty-two mobile handsets.
3. Arrest of International Car Theft Suspect
On May 27, 2024, the Police recovered a stolen Lexus LX470 Jeep and arrested Mubarak Kabiru in Kaduna. Kabiru was found with an Anti-Tracking Jammer and confessed to transporting stolen vehicles to Niger Republic.
4. Arrest of an Armed Bandit
On May 29, 2024, the Police arrested a 70-year-old armed bandit, Hussaini, in Tudun Wada Zaria. Recovered items included an AK-47 rifle, a locally made pistol, and cartridges.
5. Arrest of Kidnappers
On May 29, 2024, a joint patrol team arrested three suspects involved in kidnapping and cattle rustling. Recovered items included a locally made single-barrel gun, a cutlass, and mobile phones.
6. Arrest of Notorious Marabout
On June 20, 2024, the Operation Yaki Tracking and Response Team arrested Mallam Ali Bello, a spiritual leader linked to kidnappers. The team also arrested a kidnapper seeking Bello's assistance.
7. Arrest of Woman with Ammunition
On June 23, 2024, Police intercepted Aisha Abubakar with five hundred and fifty (550) rounds of AK-47 live ammunition. She was transporting the ammunition to Katsina.
8. Recovery of Stolen Diplomatic Vehicle
On June 25, 2024, Police recovered a stolen Prado Jeep with a diplomatic plate number. The vehicle, snatched at gunpoint in Abuja, was recovered in Kaduna.
CP Dabigi concluded by emphasizing the dedication of the Officers and men of the Kaduna State Police Command. "We remain committed to serving and protecting the people of Kaduna State with integrity and professionalism," he affirmed. He also acknowledged the cooperation and support of the press in the fight against crime.
