Zakari Haruna - Kaduna
Kaduna, Nigeria - The Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (PPFN) has commissioned a renovated facility at Miyetti Allah PHC Rigasa, Kaduna, with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Norwegian government. The upgraded facility aims to promote family planning services to women in the area.
According to Northwest Regional Coordinator, Mrs. Elizabeth Joe, PPFN has provided office equipment and trained health service providers to ensure the smooth delivery of services. She urged the community to take ownership of the project and guard against vandalization.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by representatives from the Kaduna State government, including the Director of Health, Igabi local government area, Salamatu Balarabe, and the Reproductive Health Coordinator, Kaduna North, Mary Madaki. They emphasized the importance of family planning and child spacing services, particularly in the current situation in the country.
The PPFN Executive Director appreciated the support of UNFPA, the Norwegian government for the support in upgrading the facility, and the Kaduna State government for the enabling environment.
The project aims to support the delivery of child spacing and family planning services in selected local government areas in Kaduna.
The renovated facility is expected to improve access to quality healthcare services for women in the area. PPFN's commitment to promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights in Nigeria has been evident since its establishment in 1960.
