Hope Builders Entrepreneurial Foundation Builds Bridges Between Skills and Certificates

To bridge the gap between skills and certificates over twenty-nine thousand young people have been trained and certified for job readiness.

The Executive Director and Founder of Hope Builders Entrepreneurial Foundation, Mr. Mathias B. Yashim who made the disclosure said that led to the establishment of over 9 thousand business and social enterprises.

” We have a lot of young people that have wonderful certificates but they don’t have the skills employers are looking for that push us thinking what to do to help these young people and research shows that it was not the fault of the candidates but curriculum content issue”.

“Now, what do you do for students to start thinking entrepreneurship at an early age, within the period, we have had to engage directly with over 29 thousand young people through different skills training and development, confidently, we can say our alumni have established well over 9 thousand business and social enterprises in northern Nigeria, that had provided over 34 thousand employment for young people”.

Mr. Mathias stressed that the Hope Builders Foundation has realized that there exists a gap between skills and certificates with only the best in class regarded to excel but later losing out because the thinking faculty is shot down.

“Now what we are doing at Hope Builders is to train the minds to ask the questions, what about this, why this one, what about the other one, and why not do it the other round and see what would it produce?”.

Giving a brief on Ashoka—which is an international non-profit organization that builds and cultivates communities of change leaders who see that the world now requires everyone to be a changemaker, Mr. Mathias explained that for the past 42 years, Ashoka has pioneered the field of Social Entrepreneurship and has supported social entrepreneurs and changemakers in shifting mindsets, changing systems, and transforming societies across all regions of the world.

He said they would use the occasion of ‘Career Day’ involving about seventy schools to launch the Ashoka,- everyone a change maker Kaduna Metro Hub.
“About everyone a changemaker movement this is an initiative that came to ensure that everyone is given a space to live his dreams and impact his society”.
